Summary

The keynote speaker is Dr. Mike Snyder who is the director of the center for genomics and personalized medicine and the chair of the genetics department at Stanford University. He’s a member of the American Academy of Sciences and has been named a high impact and highly cited scientist for multiple years. He’s also the co-founder of nine companies. He has also authored a book called genomics and personalized medicine. He is a leader in the fields of functional genomics proteomics and personalized medicine and as a major participant in the encode project, the HTAN consortium and in the HubMAP consortium.

Dr. Snyder’s lab uses a variety of approaches to understand human variation in health and disease and he has demonstrated the value of personal devices for preventative medicine. He was able to use device data to make an early prediction of a lyme disease infection. Dr. Mike Snyder talks about the spatial mapping of cells in the human intestine generated as part of the HubMAP consortium.
